A large donation from a local bank will allow Butler County Community College to offer educational programs for elementary school kids as well as high schoolers.
Farmers National Bank of Emlenton recently made a $17,000 gift through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program to the College’s Education Foundation.
Some of that money will be used for BC3’s Stock Market Game which teaches financial literacy to 1,400 students as young as third grade at 25 regional schools. According to BC3 President Dr. Nick Neupauer, these kinds of partnerships are important.
“Farmers has been just a phenomenal partner,” Neupauer said. “Not only did they help us with this EITC funding, they have a co-chair that helps us with our golf outing, and they are a lead sponsor with our golf outings. Our banks around here are just wonderful.”
The rest of the donation will be put towards BC3’s College Within the High School Program that offers college-level courses in a variety subjects as well as study, note taking, and time-management skills. This program was utilized by nearly 700 sophomores, juniors and seniors in 21 high schools across seven counties last year.
