In the early morning hours of Monday, April 6, 2026, our dearest Betty Lou McCloskey, 84, of Butler passed on suddenly to be with her late husband and soulmate of 45 years Robert G McCloskey. They are survived by their beloved son Thomas R McCloskey of North Carolina.
Betty was a 1959 graduate of Karns City Highschool and earned her RN license from Butler Hospital. She later attended the School of Anesthesia at St Francis Hospital earning her CRNA credentials. After a short time at BMH she began a 35+ year career at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital retiring as the anesthesia department head nurse. Through her time at ACMH she was able to meet and help many people through both the joyous and tragic moments of Life.
Betty dedicated her Life to supporting and assisting her Family & friends whenever she could, often in the form of home cooked food or baked goods. Betty was extremely talented in knitting, crochet, cross stitch and sewing. She was always working on a project for someone and loved making blankets and sweaters as gifts for expecting friends and family. Betty loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed tending her garden and day lilies. She was an avid hunter with archery season being her favorite. Her favorite place was the Rottman-Williams family farm where many cherished memories were created with RG and TR. Betty will be dearly missed by all of us whose lives she touched. We were truly blessed to have her in ours!
Betty was the daughter of Dean R Williams and Anna R (Rottman) Williams of Karns City. She had one brother, the late Thomas D Williams (Butler), who through his adoring wife Debbie J (Travaglio) Williams gave Betty four amazing nieces and nephews who she dearly loved and cherished: Robert G and Lori (Chapin) Williams, Christine A (Williams) and David I. Mikan, Rachel M (Williams) and Erik M Lenyk, Barret-dean A and Morgan A (Briscoe) Williams. These unions yielded seven wonderful children that Betty viewed and cared for as her surrogate grandchildren: Paige, Benjamin, Evan, Boden, Karsten, Kate and Marin. In addition, Betty was extremely close with her cousins Nancy L (Rottman) Brice, her late daughter Nancy Marlene “Tiger” (Blair) Rumbaugh, and Doris Jean (Rottman) Hurtado who she viewed as her sisters.
