A state lawmaker is looking to help those who fall behind on their taxes, but are still attempting to pay what they owe.
Even after establishing a payment plan with the State Department of Revenue on owed taxes, penalties and fees can be added to the bill.
The newly proposed House Bill 1805 will freeze penalties and fees on past-due taxes when a taxpayer participates in a payment plan and stays on schedule.
The bill has been introduced in the house finance committee and has received bipartisan support in the house.
