Lawmakers in Harrisburg are looking to bring back a law that would require motorcyclists to wear a helmet.
For 22 years the option to wear a helmet was left up to riders, but State Rep. Manuel Guzman, a Democrat from Berks County, has proposed legislation to require all riders to strap up.
Current law states those under 21 and less than two years of riding experience are required to wear a helmet while riding. But the two-year requirement can be waived by PennDOT after completing a safety course.
Similar efforts were made in 2007 and 2011 but failed. The bill has been circulated in Harrisburg but it has not been formally introduced in the house.
