The public is welcome to attend a fun local event this weekend to raise money to combat a rare and devastating disease.
Kierra and Kiersten Wood’s mother was diagnosed with Huntingdon Disease in 2006. The disease is a progressive brain disorder that causes uncontrolled movements, emotional problems, and loss of thinking ability.
The fifth annual Bowling for a Cure event will be held Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Family Bowlaway in Butler. For a donation of $20 for adults and $12 for kids 6 to 12, those attending can enjoy unlimited bowling, shoes, two pieces of pizza, and soft drinks.
The money raised from this event will go towards the Western PA chapter of the Huntingdon Disease Society of America. Although there is no cure yet for Huntingdon’s, research is making a difference.
This event will also include a basket raffle, a 50/50, and a bake sale so non-bowlers are welcome to stop by Sunday and participate in those activities at no charge.
