As the first day at Butler Area School District approaches, administrators are concerned about the transportation of students.
In a recent message to families, Butler Superintendent Dr. Brian White states that another regional school district offered large signing bonuses for bus drivers and essentially took 13 drivers in the last ten days.
Butler is not in a financial position to match those incentives so they are asking families to be prepared for the increased use of vans to transport students and tiered dismissal for the Senior High. Students who do not need bus transportation are asked to fill out a form on the district’s website.
Nine drivers are currently in training but anyone who is a certified bus driver or able to drive a van with clearances is asked to consider helping the district at the start of the school year until the new drivers are fully trained by contacting AJ Myers and Sons.
