The Butler boys basketball team’s playoff hopes took a big hit Friday when they fell 50-30 to Seneca Valley. Butler will host Pine-Richland for their final regular-season home game Tuesday. It will be a boys-girls doubleheader, with both games being broadcast on WBUT. Pre-game begins at 5:50pm.
New Castle lost for the first time this season. The Red Hurricanes dropped a 51-49 decision to Pine-Richland Friday night. New Castle has already clinched the Class 6A Section 1 title.
New Castle is facing Fox Chapel tonight – the Foxes are one of several teams battling Butler, Seneca Valley, Pine-Richland, Woodland Hills and North Hills for playoff spots in that section. As of this morning: Pine-Richland is second at 6-5. Fox Chapel, Seneca Valley and Woodland Hills are tied at 6-6. North Hills are currently 4-6. Butler is 4-8.
Knoch remained perfect in section play with a 50-29 win over Deer Lakes Friday. The Knights host North Catholic tomorrow night. Both Knoch and the Trojans have locked up playoff spots in Class 4A. The Knights are 10-0 in the section. The Trojans are 9-1.
