The Butler Transit Authority is taking the next step in the process to purchase three new vehicles.
At their Tuesday night meeting, the Authority board approved the purchase of three 30-foot CNG Replacement Buses for local service from Gillig at a cost of about $747,000 each.
Authority administrators will now notify Gillig in order to secure a space on an 18 to 24-month wait list so that the buses will be ready when the current buses reach the expected end of their useful lives.
Funding for two of the buses will be requested from the state through the Clean Air Act while the other is expected to be federally funded through the state but all will require a local match which the Authority has in place.
