A Butler Township program to help get young people more involved with local government will continue.
Butler High School seniors Mikayla Tillery and Alex Kurnava have been chosen as this year’s student representatives for Butler Township.
Commissioner Dave Zarnick came up with the idea of a Student Municipal Representative Program last year and asked Butler Area School District Superintendent Dr. Brian White to help get it off the ground.
Both students expressed an appreciation for this opportunity during a township commissioners meeting on Monday. Student representatives will have a chance to give updates during meetings about items of interest or concern to local youth, as well as report back to class about what was discussed by the commissioners.
