The Butler Township Police Department has completed a realignment with a promotion into a new position.
Commissioners, acting on recommendation of Chief Brian Barnhart, and following positive test results, have elevated Steven Hensel from Detective Sergeant to Lieutenant in charge of Criminal Investigation.
Hensel has been a member of the Butler Township force for 24 years and has been operating in his new role for over a year but without the official authority which he now has as third in command.
This move comes after Commissioners hired John Herold as Deputy Chief of Police earlier this year with responsibility for internal investigations, day-to-day operations, and reporting system accuracy.
