The Butler Township Planning Commission has approved a revised recommendation for a housing development in the Highfield area.
After hearing from developer Jerry Oliver of the 39 acre Highfield Trails plan on South Duffy and Highfield Roads, as well as several community members, the commission decided to recommend approval for the revised plan to the Butler Township Commissioners.
This revised plan reduces the proposed number of single family units from 113 to 100. The developer is also moving forward with the original plan which was denied approval by the planning commission last month. The Commission made that decision after feedback from the Township Zoning Officer as well as the Township solicitor who both maintain that proposal does not comply with the Township ordinance language concerning density requirements.
The original 113 unit plan will go before the Zoning Hearing Board for a discussion about compliance with ordinance today (Wednesday). That board will then have 30 days to release their findings after which either the developer or the Township will be able to appeal that ruling to the Butler County Court of Common Pleas.
Butler Township Commissioners approved a lot consolidation of the property last month and could take action on granting final approval to the revised plan at their next meeting later this month.
