Carol Marie Monks (née Loutzenhiser), age 88, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, in Butler, Pennsylvania. Born on November 20, 1937, in Butler, she lived a full and vibrant life rooted in her hometown.
A graduate of Butler High School, Carol began her career with the Armstrong Group of Companies. She worked diligently as a keypunch operator before transitioning to the role of receptionist, where her warm demeanor and professionalism left a lasting impression. After many years of dedicated service, she retired in 1998.
Carol was a devoted member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, where her faith provided her with strength and guidance throughout her life. She cherished moments spent laughing with loved ones—a trait she inherited from her mother—and found joy in watching golf and engaging in spirited political debates. Her sharp wit and humor were unforgettable; it was often said that if the family cat had been a Democrat, she would have voted for him.
She is survived by her daughter Karin Bright (John), grandson Michael Josephs (Kaleigh), two great grandchildren Aylin and Colin and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her son Steven Monks (2021) and by her husband Harold (Ham) Monks (2023) whom she married May 25th 1958 (65yrs).
