Police are releasing more information about a child who was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in the City of Butler.
The incident occurred just before 4 p.m. in the 900 block of West New Castle Street near the intersection with 6th Avenue.
A police investigation has determined that a six-year-old male child who has significant disabilities and is known to the department darted out into the road. He was struck by a vehicle and suffered a fractured skull and multiple broken bones. His mother was at the scene. He was flown to Children’s Hospital where his prognosis is good.
The driver stayed at the scene, cooperated fully, and will not be charged. A portion of the road was shut down for about three hours to allow for a State Police accident reconstructionist to investigate.
