The City of Butler is making a series of significant investments in improving local facilities.
First, Council approved a contract with Troy J. Construction in the amount of nearly $744,000 for the Farmers Market Improvements Project which includes roof repair, bathrooms, electrical, paving, and landscaping to allow for improved parking and vendor space. Around a third of this money is from grant funding with the rest allotted through the City’s long-range plan. Work will begin in the near future but ongoing Farmers Markets will not be affected.
Council also approved an agreement with Hiles Excavating LLC in the amount of nearly $655,000 for the Parking Lot Improvements project which includes paving and curblines at the City building lot, the North Main Burger Hut lot, and the Diamond lot as well as landscaping and preparing for the installation of kiosks at some point in the future.
Finally, Council accepted a bid from Keystone Sports Construction in the amount of just over $162,000 for the supply and installation of an infield synthetic turf system at Historic Pullman Park. This project was undertaken with assistance from Butler Area School District and work is likely to take place at some point next month using funds from the sale of BASA assets.
