Butler City Council has approved a couple of major projects to begin in the near future.
First, Council accepted a bid from C H and D Enterprises in the amount of nearly $149,000 for some structural repairs and resurfacing of the South Monroe Street Bridge. The money comes from the proceeds from the sale of BASA assets. This bridge will need additional work but it is on the schedule for PennDOT to address in the future.
Also, Council accepted bids for a long-discussed Father Marinaro Park project in the amount of just over $388,000 from Hiles Excavating LLC. Five bids were received and the award was made in consultation with County officials. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources awarded Butler a $108,000 grant for this project in 2022 to help pay for part of the cost.
This project is expected to begin very soon and include new playground equipment, resurfacing the basketball court, a sidewalk, a fence, and a new shelter. Work will be finished in late September or October.
