A Tuesday morning fire significantly damaged a Clinton Township home and garage.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center just after 11 a.m. for an attached garage fire in the 300 block of Sun Mine Road.
Crews from Saxonburg, Middlesex, Penn Township, Buffalo Township, and Sarver were among those responding to find heavy smoke and fire at a two story residential structure. Saxonburg Chief Chris Dean:
“Originally when we got on scene, the homeowner was still in the house trying to get some personal possessions out of the house and he vacated the house on his own.”
West Penn Power was requested to provide a remote disconnect to the property. It took about 90 minutes to get the fire under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation but thought to be in the garage.
“The homeowner said he heard a loud pop in the garage and went out to the garage and found the golf cart on fire. The homeowner believes that the golf cart may have caused it. It was plugged in charging.”
The residents are not living in the structure at this time as a reconstruction crew is working on addressing extensive water and smoke damage throughout.
