College Football Saturday:
–Slippery Rock defeated IUP 30-27 for The Rock’s Homecoming Game at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. More than 10,000 were in attendance for the game, which saw The Rock come from behind to hand the Crimson Hawks their first loss in the PSAC-West this season. Slippery Rock improved to 5-2 with the victory heading into their “bye” week. They will host Clarion for their final regular-season home game November 1st.
IUP will host rival California for the annual “Coal Bowl” this Saturday in Indiana.
The Crimson Hawks still led the Western Division with a 2-1 record (4-2 overall). Edinboro is second at 2-1 in the PSAC-West (3-4 overall). Cal (5-2), The Rock (5-2) and Seton Hill (4-4) are 2-2 in the division. Clarion (5-2) and Gannon (1-6) are 1-2.
–Pitt defeated Syracuse 30-13 Saturday night. The Panthers improved to 5-2 with the victory, and host North Carolina State this Saturday afternoon at Acrisure Stadium. Kick-off is 3:30pm.
–Penn State lost to Iowa 25-24 Saturday night. The Nittany Lions fell to 3-4 this season, and enter a week off prior to visiting #1-ranked Ohio State November 1st.
