Corey Heim won the Brickyard 400 Nascar Cup Series race Sunday at Indianapolis Speedway. The 24-year old part-time Cup Series driver won his second race of the season driving for 23-11, the team owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin. Heim made a daring pass on his co-owner with 35 laps to go and then held off Christopher Bell and Joey Logano for the victory. Heim is the first Cup driver to win twice in his first 15 career starts since A.J. Foyt in 1965. He becomes a full-time Cup Series driver next year. His first two race wins, at the San Diego road course and Sunday at the Brickyard, are the first times he has raced at either track.
The drivers are off this weekend. They return in Iowa August 9th.
Gavan Bueschele finished 8th in the Truck Series race Friday night in his debut at Indy Raceway Park. Gavan’s parents are Butler County natives.
