A Cranberry man is facing charges after a 911 caller could be heard yelling for help.
Police were called to a Cranberry Township home last Wednesday for a domestic incident where the victim could be heard on the phone calling for help.
When officers arrived on scene, the victim said 48-year-old Joseph Birsa strangled her. The victim claims Birsa threw several items, placed a knife on her throat, and strangled her before leaving.
Birsa was charged with strangulation, simple assault, and harassment and placed in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for February 20.
