Daryl Kent Smith, 81, of Butler passed away peacefully at Butler Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family on Monday, August 25, 2025. He was born on September 24, 1943, at home in Natrona Heights to the late William and Elva (Perkins) Smith.
He played football for Knoch High School where he graduated from in 1963. Later, he honorably joined the U.S. Navy. Following the Navy, he earned his associates degree at the Pittsburgh Art Institute. He was able to use his artistic talents at his business, Daryl’s Signs. He was a member of the Art’s Association, American Legion, Butler Outdoor Club and Grace Way Church.
Daryl was very kind and giving. He was a hard worker and loved his family and dogs. He will be greatly missed by his sisters, Winnie Joyce Klara and Jill L. Smith; his dear friend, Ruth Ferko, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Daryl was preceded in death by his niece, Cherida Thrasher and nephew, Bernard Klara.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 5-7 PM at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD. BUTLER, PA 16001. WWW.SPENCERD.GEIBEL.COM. A prayer service and full military honors will immediately follow in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately at Butler County Memorial Park.
