It was a record-setting year for inmate visits across Pennsylvania.
The state Department of Corrections released data that showed just over 1 million people visited with inmates either in-person or by video.
That was a five percent increase compared to last year, and up more than four times since 2019.
Officials site the growing number of virtual visits for the increase—which accounted for 90 percent of visits.
State-sentenced inmates are generally permitted four in-person visits and six video visits each month.
