The Los Angeles Dodgers used a 10-run seventh inning to defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates 12-3 last night in the opening game of a three-game series.
Pirates starting pitcher Paul Skenes allowed two earned runs over six innings. He walked two and struck out seven. Skenes left with the game tied 2-2. Rookie reliever Wilber Dotel did not record an out in the seventh inning, allowing six earned runs on five hits, as the Dodgers blew the game open.
Ryan O’Hearn and Bryan Reynolds hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning to give the Bucs an early 2-0 lead, but they managed just five hits overall in the game.
The Pirates and Dodgers play again tonight at 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm. Jared Jones will start for the Bucs. Shohei Ohtani starts for the Dodgers.
