Another donation from a local group will help the city of Butler pay for upgrades needed for a streets department truck purchased last month.
City Council approved three different motions Tuesday night in relation to getting the 2019 Ford F-550 ready for use by streets employees.
The first involved the purchase of a stainless steel imperial dump body from Imperial Truck Body and Equipment for just over $14,000. The second involved the purchase of a 9 foot Western Pro Plus Snowplow for just over $5,000. The third involved the purchase of a hydraulic system for the truck in the amount of just over $10,000.
Some of this expense will be paid for by a $2,000 donation to the City by the Italian Society of Butler with the rest coming out of the Liquid Fuels Tax Fund. The truck itself was purchased last month for just over $50,000 using a $10,000 donation along with Liquid Fuels Tax money.
It is expected to take at least two months of work by the vendors before this truck is able to be used by city streets employees.
