For New Year’s Day AAA is not only reminding drivers to not get behind the wheel drunk but to not get behind the wheel hungover.
According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, hangover symptoms can last for 24 hours or more. Those symptoms can impact your motor skills.
Symptoms include:
- Fatigue and weakness
- Headaches and muscle aches
- Nausea and stomach pain
- Poor or decreased sleep
- Dehydration
- Vertigo
- Sensitivity to light and sound
- Anxiety
- Irritability
- Increased blood pressure
The only option to sober up is time and it can take between 75-90 minutes or longer to recover from just one standard-sized drink.
