Born January 25, 1927, in Portersville, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Jennie (Haley) Kelley.
Elsie was a graduate of Portersville High School, and went on to graduate from Butler Business College. She worked a variety of book keeping and office positions throughout her career. Elsie was a long time member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Butler. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
Elsie is survived by her son, Brian R. (Ann L.) McCandless, two grandsons, Scott and Andrew McCandless, and her sister, Dorothy Snyder Guiney.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ralph W. McCandless, whom she married on August 22, 1950, and who passed away in May of 2001, and her sister, Thelma McKinnis.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM (noon) at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001.
She will be laid to rest in North Side Cemetery.
