Butler County is breaking out the shovels and snow plows for the first time this season following the first blast of winter this morning.
Snow showers started rolling in during the early morning hours and it continued throughout most of the morning.
County residents saw anywhere from three to five inches of total snow.
The National Weather Service has a winter weather advisory in effect through 1 p.m. today.
The morning snow showers also led to a very tricky commute for drivers.
The first call for an accident this morning came in around 5:30 a.m. for an accident on I-79 in Lancaster Township.
Over the next couple of hours, first responders were busy handling calls for over a dozen accidents, including crashes on major roads like Route 422 and Route 8.
Drivers saw their morning commute delayed significantly as well due to bad roads and accidents.
The messy roads led school districts all over the county to either cancel or move to flexible instruction days.
