A former inmate at the Butler County Prison is filing a lawsuit that alleges he was beaten and kicked inside the jail two years ago.
32-year-old Kristoffer Ion filed the suit against Butler County and the Prison earlier this week alleging that the prison was negligent when he suffered about 70 kicks to the head in June 2022.
According to the complaint, Ion was in prison serving a DUI sentence when he started offered haircuts for other inmates. A dispute then began about the order of which inmates would receive their cut.
An officer allegedly told the inmates he didn’t care about the list and to “take care of it yourself.”
Ion says that’s when four inmates knocked him to the ground and began kicking him repeatedly. After a corrections officer used pepper spray, he left and accidentally locked the door which allowed the inmates to continue hitting Ion.
Ion says he suffers from migraines, PTSD and more as a result of the fight.
