An Evans City woman is in the Butler County Prison after she allegedly deleted files on a local library’s computer.
On Thursday, police were contacted by officials at the Evans City Library for an alleged hacking.
Officials at the library told police they believed a former employee, 31-year-old Evelyn Green, deleted historic materials, templates, and other various items that were stored on software.
According to the activity logs, accounts connected to the name “Cory Covert” deleted the files over a 14-hour period in October. Police connected Green to the deletion of the files by noticing the email connected to “Cory Covert” was added to another software in the library six minutes after Green last used the different software.
Green has been charged with unlawful use of a computer and computer trespassing. Her bail was set at $15,000 and a preliminary hearing has been set for March 18.
