Two local soccer teams had their seasons end last night in the PIAA Soccer Semifinals:
–Burrell avenged their WPIAL championship game loss with a 2-1 victory over Freeport in the Class 2A Semifinals last night. Burrell advances to the state championship game for the first time in program history. They will face Archbishop Wood Saturday. Despite defeating Burrell three times this season by scores of 3-1, 1-0 and 1-0, the Yellow Jackets season came to a close with a record of 20-2.
–The Seneca Valley boys had their season end with a 4-1 loss to Abington in the Class 4A Semifinals. The Raiders finish their year 19-4.
Undefeated District 10 champion Fairview defeated Deer Lakes 3-1 at Franklin high school last night and have reached the Class 2A boys state soccer final. Fairview is now 23-0 and meet Lewisburg Friday in their first-ever state final appearance.
The Pine-Richland girls volleyball team reached the state final in Class 4A following a 3-1 victory over Unionville from District 2 last night. The Rams will face Spring-Ford in the title game this weekend.
