The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy is now accepting applications for a tree planting grant.
The funding will cover, a variety of trees and shrubs, tree protection materials, and labor to plant the trees.
The conservancy plants to plant 75 acres of unforested riparian with around 15,000 trees through 2027.
The riparian can stabilize streambanks, reduce sedimentation, cool water temperatures, and filtering pollutants such as excess nitrogen and phosphorus.
The application is open to landowners who meet certain requirements.
The funding is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Community Conservation Partnership Program.
