Gas prices have edged downward both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas prices report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, dropped by a penny to $4.39 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by two cents to reach $4.33. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Clarion at $4.11, while the most expensive is in Jeannette at $4.42.
The average national gas price decreased by a penny over the past week to reach $4.08 with the August average above $4 every day for the first time ever. Gasoline demand increased last week, while the price of oil decreased slightly to about $82 a barrel as the conflict with Iran in the Strait of Hormuz continues.
