With many motorists taking to the roads this Independence Day, gas prices have risen locally but decreased slightly across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, increased by two cents to settle at $3.69 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by a penny over the same period of time to reach $3.64. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in DuBois at $3.44, while the most expensive is in Beaver at $3.73.
The average national gas price stayed dropped by four cents over the past week to hit $3.53 which is two cents less than a month ago and $1.28 less than one year ago.
While demand for gas decreased slightly last week, the total amount of domestic gasoline stocks increased which has kept prices in check.
