The rising gas prices show no signs of slowing both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Butler as of yesterday is $4.79—which is an increase of 20 cents compared to last week.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also rose by 20 cents to reach $4.74. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Altoona at $4.60, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $4.83.
The average national gas price increased by 16 cents for the second consecutive week to reach $4.47 which is over a dollar more than it was last year at this time. Gasoline demand increased slightly last week, as the price of domestic oil actually fell by about $3 to just over $102 a barrel due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
