Grace (Double) Rensel, of Butler, passed away peacefully at Sugar Creek Care Center on June 25, 2025, aged 86. Grace was a woman of quiet strength, deep love, and steady presence – someone who found peace in simplicity and joy in her family.
She wasn’t one for the spotlight, but those who knew her understood the depth of her heart. Grace cherished time spent outdoors, watching the butterfly garden, and participating in games and activities. Grace especially loved playing Yahtzee, and she took pride in the title “Yahtzee Queen”. She was a fan of classic country music and often had it playing softly in the background – a familiar comfort that reflected her calm and steady spirit.
Her greatest pride in life was her family. Her quiet wisdom shaped their lives in lasting ways. She was the devoted mother of five daughters, Terri (Robert) Solkovy, Brenda (Rick) Steighner, Robin (Dennis) Ashcraft, Karen (Gary) Ashcraft, and Kathy Rensel. Grace was also a beloved grandmother to ten grandchildren and great-grandmother to fourteen great-grandchildren, each of whom she treasured deeply, and several nieces and nephews.
Grace was preceded in death by her sister Eva, her nephew Harry, and her husband Robert, to whom she was married for 52 years.
Grace had a way of making those around her feel loved and grounded. Her presence was comforting, her love unwavering, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family.
In keeping with Grace’s wishes and nature, a private family gathering will be held to honor her memory. The family invites those who knew her to remember her in their own quiet way – perhaps with a walk in the woods, a favorite country song, watching a butterfly, or just a moment of stillness under the open sky.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc., 124 East North St, Butler, PA 16001.
All who knew Grace are encouraged to share memories and upload photos to her unique remembrance page at www.thompson-miller.com.
