Gustaf “Bud” William Norling, III, 76, of West Sunbury, passed away Monday, October 27, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was born August 19, 1949, in Butler, the son of the late Gustaf William Norling, Jr. and Bessie (Varellis) Norling.
Bud proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from June 3, 1969 to December 5, 1970.
He enjoyed fishing, working on his train collections, gardening, and reading and watching documentaries about history and military events. Bud was known for his competitive spirit during mini golf games and his enthusiasm for racing-a passion he happily shared after marrying into the Reges family. Above all, he treasured time spent with his grandchildren, who were his greatest joy.
Surviving are his two daughters, Rhonda (Robert) Hall and Kelly Norling, both of West Sunbury; and three grandchildren, Sean, Samantha and Kyle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Jean (Reges) Norling, whom he married on June 26, 1971, and who passed away on January 2, 2021; as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Doris Reges.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 6-8PM and on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 10AM until the time of the funeral service at 11AM.
Interment with Military Honors will follow in West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
