The PIHL season opened Monday and defending Penguins Cup champion Seneca Valley defeated South Fayette 4-1. Cooper Hoehn netted two goals and two assists to lead the Raiders, who are two-time defending Class 3A champions.

–Butler golfer Levi McClellan tied for 10th place after the opening round of the WPIAL Class 3A tournament being played at Hannastown Golf Club and made the cut to the final round to be played at Sewickley Heights Golf Club. He shot a 74. The leader was Bailey Donahue from Central Catholic who was the only golfer to break 70. He shot a 67 and has a three-stroke win for that opening round.
–Riley Kontul of North Catholic was in the top-8 after the opening round of the girls Class 2A tournament at Hillcrest Golf Club.
