A local hunter is garnering recognition for harvesting the largest bear of the season so far.
Nate Miller of Beaver County was hunting at Moraine State Park this past Saturday when he spotted a large black bear.
He fired a shot and initially saw the bear take off. However, he soon found out that he got the bear, and it was big, weighing in at 717 pounds.
That’s the largest harvest in Pennsylvania so far this year.
The all-time record was set in 2010 when an 876-pound bear was harvested in Monroe County.
