A new community center will soon be constructed in a Jackson Township park.
Earlier this week, the board supervisors approved contracts to begin building a community center at Sippel Reservoir Park.
The total cost for the project will be $1.9 million. The state will provide $250,000 but the rest of the funding will come from recreational impact fees.
Contracts were awarded to Lee Michael Industries at $1.45 million for general construction, Air Systems Mechanical at $166,000 for HVAC construction, Newman Plumbing at $154,200 for pluming, and McCurley Houston Electric for electrical work at $154,200.
Excavation for the project has already started but work for the structure will start in two months and township officials hope it will open early next year.
The structure will be able to support 80 to 90 people for events.
The purpose of the location of the community center is to also benefit surrounding municipalities to host events.
