James Fleeger, 88, of Butler passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025. He was born in Butler on February 26, 1937, to the late Robert and Dorothy (Bennett) Fleeger. James graduated from Butler High School in 1954. James honorably served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958 where he was stationed in Waco, TX as a radio repairman. After the Air Force, James worked at Haller Pet Supplies of Evans City until 1977, and then as a truck driver for MTI until 2003. James was the owner of Fleeger Autobody, where he built many custom cars with his son and grandsons.
James would be your friend for life; he had a great laugh, was a perfectionist and loved music. In the 1960s and 70s he co-owned Fleeger-Hathaway Race team. He was a lifelong member of Rider Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday School and was a part of the church council. James was a member of the Moose Lodge 64 and the American Legion Post 117.
James was the beloved husband of Barbara (Whitmire) Fleeger, since their marriage in 1957; father of John (Elaine) Fleeger and Jan (Frank) Campbell; brother of Dianne (Horace) Bowman, Becky and Sam (Barbara) Fleeger; grandfather of Robert “Bo” Fleeger, Erin Montańo and Christopher Dunn; great grandfather of Aurora Fleeger, Kyleigh Bruce, Gabriel and Emma Montańo, Jaxon Ratcliff, Tallen and Braelynn Dunn. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Tim Spencer.
