John Joseph Johnson, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2026 at his home.
John grew up in Butler, PA, where he faithfully served his community for years as a city police officer. He retired as a Lieutenant. Most recently he worked as a detective for the County District Attorney’s office.
As an avid golfer, John could frequently be found on the green. He also loved playing the drums and watching sports, especially the Steelers.
John Johnson is survived by his nephew Christopher (Kimberly) Miller, and his niece Heather (Matthew) Clement. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, friends, and his beloved dog, Ollie.
John was preceded in death by his sister Patricia (Richard) Miller, and his parents, John and Helen Johnson.

A viewing for John Johnson will be held at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. 124 E. North Street, Butler, PA 16001 on Wednesday January 14, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8.
