A Chicora man was sentenced late last week for sexually assaulting a student from a local school after working as a volunteer.
In January 2024, police charged 23-year-old Brayden Edwards for having an inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old.
Edwards was a volunteer at an after-school activity at Karns City Area High School. Charging documents say the assaults happened off campus in March 2023 and school administrators were informed of the incident in August 2023.
Edwards was sentenced to four to 18 months at the Butler County Prison with 14 day’s time served, 30 months of probation, and pay nearly $1800 in court fees.
