Kathleen Gardina, 79, of Butler passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. She was born in Butler on January 16, 1947, to the late George and Marcelle (Scohier) Schaffner.
Kathleen graduated from Butler High School in 1965 and furthered her education at Slippery Rock University where she graduated with her B.S. in education in 1969; in 1973 she received her Masters of Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
Kathleen was a member of Buttercup Garden Club and Stoughton’s Ladies Golf League.
Kathleen is survived by her stepchildren: Mellissa, Max (Courtney) and Matthew (Dawn) Gardina; grandchildren: Nicholas (Jessica) Mollie, Grace, Addyson and Matthew; great grandchildren, Jacob and Paisley. She is also survived by her sister, Colleen Wible and her brother, Brian (Donna).
Along with her parents and husband, Kathleen was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce.
