Congressman Mike Kelly is among the House Republicans who voted in favor of legislation that he says will protect local natural gas industry.
The Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Potential Act of 2024 passed Thursday by a vote of 224 to 200.
This legislation would eliminate the requirement for the U.S. Department of Energy to authorize export of Liquefied Natural Gas and instead give the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission sole authority over the approval process.
Several weeks ago President Joe Biden ordered a de facto ban on LNG exports through the end of the year.
