Laura “Jean” Brown, 100, of Butler, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Concordia at the Orchard in Butler.
She was born on August 25, 1925, in Butler, the daughter of the late John Dunlap and Sylvia (McCandless) Wise.
Jean was a devoted member of the Women’s Guild at Unionville Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed bowling and was active in the 60 Plus League. She also loved reading, cross stitching, and working on jigsaw puzzles. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Peggy (Gary) Baptiste of Butler and Kim (Bob) Geagan of Butler; her son, Kent (Lexie) Brown of Meadville; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; her sister, Martha Weitzel of Butler; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Dallos and Janis Noblit.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Brown Jr., whom she married on September 16, 1950, and who passed away on February 10, 2013; her daughter, Debby Chuba; her grandson, Drew Chuba; three sisters; a brother; and her great-grandson, Austin Weisenstein.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 3-7 PM.
Funeral services will be held at Unionville Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1114 Sunset Drive, Butler, PA 16001, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 11 AM, with her pastor, Rev. Matt Kail, officiating.
Private burial will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
