Lawmakers in Harrisburg are proposing a bill that would place a tax on digital advertising by “mega-corporations.”
According to the bill’s memorandum, Maryland was able to raise $170 million dollars by taxing Big Tech companies to fund public education.
If signed into the law, the bill will tax gross revenue derived from digital advertisements.
Lawmakers on the House Finance Committee voted along party lines and the bill passed 14 to 12.
It is now awaiting a vote on the house floor.
