Two people in Lawrence County are facing animal cruelty charges after dogs were found dead and significantly malnourished in their New Castle home.
Police were called to the house on Ashland Avenue on July 16th to conduct an animal welfare check. When officers got to the home, there was a strong smell of dogs, decay, and ammonia.
Inside the house, police found four dead dogs and 10 unhealthy dogs. Officials say the dogs were so malnourished, their ribs were visible.
Police arrested 34-year-old Michelle Wimer and 33-year-old Travis Laughery.
The couple now faces 74 different charges and are being held in the Lawrence County Prison.
