An Armstrong County woman won $3 million off a scratch off lottery ticket and has plans to take her terminal ill husband on trip of a life time.
50-year-old Penny Reep of Armstrong County was heading back home from a dentist appointment in Butler when she stopped at Rummy Mart in Chicora for lottery tickets. She purchased a $10 ticket that won her $40 and accidentally purchased a $30 ticket.
That $30 ticket won her $3 million dollars. Which is roughly $2,187,900 after taxes. Reep’s husband is battling a rare form of cancer and she says she wants to spend the money with her husband and family.
“I’m just so numb it doesn’t seem real,” said Reep. “My goal is to just travel and enjoy my time with my husband and family.”
Reep said when she and her husband worked they would spend somewhere between $600 and $800 a week on lottery tickets. The most she had previously won was $1,000.
Reep’s husband claims the last time he had gotten a call from his wife of her being overly emotional she had hit a bear while driving.
The couple are planning to visit Alaska with the money.
