The mayor of Slippery Rock has filed a counter suit against a local attorney and former candidate for district attorney after an earlier suit filed by the attorney was dismissed.
Mayor JonDavid Longo has filed a civil suit seeking greater than $35,000 dollars in damages against local attorney Jennifer Gilliland Vanasdale.
This new suit comes after a suit filed by Gilliland Vanasdale accused Longo, current District Attorney Rich Goldinger, and several others of sharing false information on social media. The case was eventually dismissed, but is now being appealed by Gilliland Vanasdale and is before the Pennsylvania Superior Court.
Longo has now filed a suit claiming the Vanasdale suit was wrongful use of civil proceedings and action for protected public expression.
A hearing was held on Friday for preliminary arguments. According to Gilliland Vanasdale, the judge denied a stay in Longo’s suit as her previous suit awaits appeal.
