While fleeing police a Butler man crashed his vehicle in Middlesex Township and he now facing charges.
The chase happened just before 3 a.m. Wednesday on the 800 block of Route 8 North after a vehicle was seen going as fast as 80 miles per hour.
Due to high rate of speed the officer ended the pursuit after capturing the suspect’s vehicle registration. The driver of the vehicle failed to make a right turn onto Dinnerbell Road fail and crashed into a barrier and a street sign.
After the crash the suspect, 30-year-old Cody Austin, was taken into custody after denying medical treatment. According to charging documents, Austin told police he fled due to driving with a suspended license due to a DUI.
Austin is facing several driving offenses and charges, as well as fleeing or attempting to elude an officer.
After being taken into custody Austin was placed in the Butler County Prison. His bail was set at $20,000 and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 20.
