A Butler man has been placed in the Butler County Prison after being accused of strangling a woman at a Butler City apartment.
Police were called to the 400 block of West North Street on Thursday just before 3 a.m. for a domestic incident.
The victim accused 33-year-old Edward Clark of punching her in the face and strangling her until she passed out. When police spoke with the victim, bruising could be seen on her face and red marks around her throat.
Clark has been charged with strangulation and simple assault. His bail was set at $30,000.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for August 3.
